Will the board I receive be the same as the one in the photo?

Yes! Each of our premium cutting boards is meticulously handmade and individually numbered. When you order a specific numbered board, such as Cutting Board No. 1, you will receive the exact cutting board shown in the corresponding picture on our website. What you see is precisely what you'll get – your very own, unique, numbered piece!

Why wood and not... shudder... plastic?

Oh, where do we even begin with the wonders of wood versus the woes of plastic?

First off, let's talk about our amazing planet! We firmly believe in making choices that are kind to Mother Earth, and choosing a wood board over plastic is a simple yet impactful way to do just that. You're not only saying "no thanks" to more plastic (high five!), but wood is also incredibly durable and, with a little love, will far outlive any plastic counterpart.

Secondly, let's get down to the nitty-gritty of cleanliness. Plastic cutting boards are notorious for developing grooves and scratches that become havens for bacteria. Yikes! Wood, on the other hand, boasts natural properties that actively fight off those unwelcome germs and foodborne bacteria. So, it's a win-win-win: clean Earth, clean board, clean you!

Can I unleash my inner chef with a serrated knife on your wood cutting boards?

Ah, the mighty serrated knife! While technically you can use one, we recommend proceeding with a touch of caution. These saw-toothed wonders are designed to tackle tough exteriors, and their aggressive action can leave deeper "scars" or even splinters on your beloved board.

If you must deploy your serrated friend, try using the tip and a gentle sawing motion, especially for things like crusty bread. This will help minimize any potential damage.

Do all your magnificent boards come with little rubber feet?

While we love the idea of all our boards doing a little happy dance off your countertop, some of our boards come equipped with rubber feet. Those that come with feet will be noted in the product description.

Is it safe to cut that juicy steak (or other meats) on my board?

Absolutely! Our wooden boards are naturally equipped to handle meat like a champ. The inherent oils within the premium woods we use possess natural antibacterial properties. When you give your board a good wash, proper care, and a little oil love every 2-3 weeks, it maintains a fantastic protective barrier. This, combined with the wood's natural germ-fighting abilities, keeps things clean and safe for all your culinary creations.

Can you etch my grandma's secret cookie recipe onto a board? (Custom Engraving)

Oh, how we love the idea of family recipes living right on our boards! While we don't currently offer in-house engraving, don't let that delicious idea crumble. We recommend purchasing your perfect board from us and then taking it to a local engraving expert. This way, you get to be the head chef of the design process, ensuring it's exactly how you imagine!

Are your boards free from any of those scary-sounding chemicals (PFAS and toxins)?

Absolutely, positively, 100% yes! The only things we want in contact with your food are the delicious ingredients you're preparing. We craft our boards using only non-toxic, food-safe materials. We steer clear of any formaldehyde-based adhesives or anything else that could be potentially harmful. Our boards are completely free of VOCs, BPA, microplastics, PFOA, and phthalates, so you can slice, dice, and chop with complete peace of mind. They're as safe as they are stunning!

Can I dream up a wildly unique board design and have you make it?

Possibly! Please share your ideas with us at mike@hardywooddesigns.com

Do you offer a warranty?

You bet we do! We're confident in the quality of our handmade cutting boards and proudly offer a warranty to back them up.

Now, while our warranty is there for you, remember that like any cherished item (especially those made of natural wood!), a little TLC goes a long way. Our warranty doesn't cover issues arising from improper care and use (Dishwasher of Doom!)– think of it as us trusting you to treat your board with the love it deserves!

The big question: Wash or oil first? Let's get this board ready for action!

Think of washing as giving your new board a refreshing pre-treatment cleanse! You'll want to gently wash it first with warm water to whisk away any lingering dust or manufacturing bits. A little tip: always wet both sides of the board evenly – wood likes consistency! Give it a quick wipe-down right after washing, then stand it upright to air dry completely. Once it's feeling nice and dry to the touch, it's oiling time! Don't forget to generously coat all sides, including those important handle edges – it's like giving the whole board a nourishing spa treatment.
